Video 1

Ivan Vasiliev wasn't made or trained for Sleeping Beauty or Swan Lake. but his stage presence is intense. He knows how to jump and turn and he is one of the greatest dancers in Russia. He is a principal at Bolshoi Ballet.

Spring Semester

David Hallberg Act I Sleeping Beauty. He's a true artist and he is a very clean stable dancer. He broke his ankle in this dance the night before.

In January when I returned back to class my teachers worked me very hard for the next moth and a half. Everyday they would rehearse me for a international ballet competition called YAGP. I learned Swan Lake Pas de Trois act I variation, La Bayadere Solor act III variation, Giselle Peasant Pas Act I variation, Paquita Pas De Trois variation (i'm not sure which act) and Satenalla Act II variation. In January my teachers decided to only bring Satenella and Giselle which played to my strengths. I danced in Denver Colorado and I got there the day before the competition to get ready. It was scary and I hardly felt like I was dancing. I felt as if I was standing on a huge stage walking around as a bunch of old dancers watched. My results were lower then I would've liked but I ended up getting top twelve. Following YAGP I started rehearsing for Cinderella the ballet which would be performed in April. I got two parts: Harvest dance in Act I (I don't think it's originally from the ballet) and I was in the ball scene. Following this I went home for a moth and returned in June. I danced Puck in A Midsummer Nights Dream and it was an amazing role for me. Went along with my personality haha. I've just started my third year at the Brindusa Moore and I hope to improve.

Fall Semester

The first semester living in Pocatello was great. I learned a lot of new materiel and improved greatly in technique and basically everything else that isn't fun in Ballet. I got three parts in the Nutcracker; Soldier Doll in Party Scene, Nutcracker Doll in Battle Scene and Russian Candy Cane in The Land of the Sweets. Soldier doll was great, the choreography included; pirouettes, double tours, barrel rolls and grande pirouettes for any of you who understand what those steps are. Also, it was a solo so that made it twice as good. Nutcracker doll was stupid except the part where I catch Clara. Russian was as usual, amazing. I even got to skip the Danish dance which is pretty awesome. In all it was a great performance. My parents had a meeting with my Ballet Teachers and they said they might and be sending audition tapes to; The Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Ballet, Vienna Ballet and the Paris Ballet. It's kind of scary thinking of living in another country so Pocatello is kind of the main option right now. For me as a Ballet Dancer, you never call yourself good, different people call you good which can kind of be annoying. When you think you're completely screwing up on a step other dancers and your instructors say you're doing it perfectly. That's why you have to be self criticizing of yourself so the step your doing is so good even you're happy with it. When you reach that point the feeling is amazing and it pushes you to do more, that's why ballet is so addicting.
No i'm not getting a big head Mom so don't think about saying anything about that.
Here's some photos from the show.

Good So Far

Saturday march 27 2010

Today is a little faster then yesterday. We have my uncles family driving in today they'll be stopping for a while. after that my aunts family is driving in, hopefully. They will be getting in a little late so we don't know if they'll be stopping by. We're hopping that they get in early enough that they can get a hotel room so we can go swimming and see them. Last night wasn't to bad, we went to a potluck without my knowledge, we played that board game I was telling you about. It's actually starting to grow on me, by the way it's called Smallworld.

After that I started this book called the book thief. It's a little confusing right now but my mom says that it gets better. Today I think everything will be a bunch funner and faster.
I hope your day is fun and fast!

slow day..... what to do?

Friday march 26 2010

Today nothing is happening much. I watched some TV, we got balloons and letters from our grandma, and had breakfast. I'm thinking of something to do but there's nothing to do! The only thing I've come up with is going to the park but my dad has the car. I guess I could go to the............what? We have another park about three blocks away but it's cold and rainy + we went there yesterday. Things I kinda want to do: We have a grocery store that I know how to get to, my dads work is only about 6 or 7 blocks from here, I know how to get to the library but we went there a few days ago + A bunch of homeless hang around there, really. I hope I will be able to find another book to read or something. The only thing I have to look forward to is drinking coke for dinner and after that playing a board game. Hopefully your day is a bunch more fun. not that I'm complaining, it's just a slow day.

slow.
